India Signs $7.4 Billion Deal with France for 26 Rafale Fighter Jets for Navy

The contract was signed with Dassault Aviation, the French aerospace company that manufactures the Rafale aircraft. This new batch of fighter jets will be specifically configured for naval operations, tailored to operate from aircraft carriers like INS Vikrant and INS Vikramaditya. The deal includes 22 single-seat Rafale M (Marine) jets and 4 twin-seat trainer variants, along with weapons, simulators, spare parts, and maintenance support.

Strategic Importance

The induction of Rafale Marine jets will significantly enhance the Indian Navy’s air power. These multi-role fighter jets are equipped with state-of-the-art radar, electronic warfare systems, and a wide range of precision weapons, enabling them to perform a variety of missions including air superiority, ground attack, and reconnaissance.
