  Army Deployed for By-Election Security Measures In response to the upcoming by-polls for 21 national and provincial seats, stringent security measures have been implemented, including the deployment of army troops as a quick response force. Authorized by the interior ministry in coordination with the Punjab government, these measures aim to maintain law and order during the elections. The deployment of army forces, sanctioned under constitutional provisions and relevant laws, will be organized in three tiers to ensure the peaceful conduct of the by-elections. Additionally, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority will enforce the suspension of mobile internet services in 13 districts and tehsils in Punjab to prevent any untoward incidents. Despite these efforts, criticisms have arisen, particularly from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), alleging the measures to be unconstitutional and aimed at manipulating the election outcome. However, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a code of conduct for the deployed army forces, emphasizing the maintenance of a peaceful environment at polling stations and ensuring the safety of voters and election staff. Under this code of conduct, security personnel will assist election officials in carrying out their duties and intervene if any irregularities or disruptions occur. They will also ensure that eligible voters can access polling stations without hindrance, while maintaining security protocols to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process
